ABOUT YOU & ME TOGETHER
TOGETHER WE CAN EMPOWER The foundation You and Me Together began as the brainchild of Jose Fuyana, a resident of Fisher Island, Florida. Mr. Fuyana, originally from Mendoza, Argentina, has always dreamed of helping at risk children in Latin America. David Bruce McMahan, financier, and other Fisher Island residents helped make Fuyana's dream come true. The foundation's mission is to empower impoverished children through education, sports and other positive extracurricular activities. Positive activities equal positive results that not only inspire their hopes and dreams but empower them with the confidence to take action. At times, it seemed an almost impossible task to help low income children have the opportunity to participate and perhaps even excel in sports, particularly tennis. In Spanish there is a saying "La union hace la fuerza" which translates to "There is strength in numbers" and as result of your generous gifts, we have now launched the project "Construyendo con el Tennis" (Building with Tennis) in conjunction with Laura Rocco. On behalf of the children and myself, I would like to express special THANKS to Dr. David B. McMahan who offered me all the needed resources and his personal assistance to start this organization. Thanks are also given to the president of "Club Deportivo Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba," Sr. Rodolfo Mario Contrera, who is managing the finances with the commitment of refurbishing the tennis courts and to offer safety and comfort to the children for the next three years. Our goal is to help the socialization of these underprivileged children through their inclusion in sports. |
